Saturday Fun

Saturday was a great day, busy but great! We started with the Children's Parade downtown Dallas. It didn't start until 10, but we got there around 7:30. Crazy yes, but worth it for the front row seats. Katie and Taylor went with us and the girl's were troopers. It was definitely freezing outside. The parade rocked though...Macy's Thanksgiving Parade is next! After lunch we headed to Palestine to ride the train with my brother Andy and his family. The theme was The Polar Express. We all had a wonderful time, but Abigail and Hunter really enjoyed it!

Here comes Barney! This was Abigail's favorite character in the parade.

This was after the parade. We had officially been there 4 hours, so the girls had gone a bit goofy on us!

Waiting to board The Polar Express.

Abigail and Hunter dancing and singing with one of the ladies on the train. They both had the bells Santa gave them and were having a blast!

Halloween 2009

What a Halloween week we've had!! It started Tuesday night when we went to the Coppell library for a Family Festival with Taylor and Katie (pic above). The girls did crafts and games and loved every minute of it! Friday night we went to Grapevine for their Halloween on Main Street. The shop owners sat outside of their shops giving the kids candy and they had bounce houses and slides. Abigail was a little iffy at first, but warmed up fast! Saturday we went to Bernie then Jane's house for trick or treating...and just visiting in general. Abigail had lots of fun at both houses, and Eddy and I enjoyed relaxing and chating. That night we headed to our church for Trunk or Treat. Abigail got more candy and did some more bouncing! We had a jack o lantern pizza from Papa Murphy's for dinner. While it was baking I took Abigail to a couple of houses close to ours. It was one eventful weekend, especially Saturday!
In Grapevine Friday night.

More Trunk R Treating. This trunk had bubbles...a total hit with the kids!!

Family Camping Trip

This weekend we took a family trip to Lake Ouachita. It's about 20 minutes from Hot Springs, AR. Abigail, Eddy and I left Thursday night and spent the night in Texarkana, which is about half way. Abigail was so excited about the hotel room it was 11 before I got her to go to sleep. I think her favorite part was the elevator, which when she pronounced it sounded more like alligator. Although jumping on the bed was probably a close second! The next morning we were up and out. It was cloudly when we got there...and very chilly. We had lunch and sat around the fire, then decided we head to the Mid-America Museum in Hot Springs. It was drizzly and cold, so it was a perfect afternoon. When we got back to the campsite, it was hamburgers and smores! The smores was Eddy's favorite part! Saturday was absolutely beautiful so we took the boat out for a ride. We played some cards, sat around the fire, went to Fisherman's Wharf for a yummy dinner, then more smores! This morning we got up and starting breaking down camp. Left about 11, had lunch in Texarkana, and got home around 6. My parents and my brother and his family all came. The younger brother had to work and we sure missed him! We had such a great time that I feel sure we'll do it again next year! And I totally recommend central or northwest Arkansas this time of year...absolutely gorgeous!
Waiting for my dad to pick us up in the boat. It was Abigail's first boat ride on a lake and it didn't take her very long to warm up to it!

Riding in the boat. It was chilly, but relaxing. Abigail couldn't figure out why she couldn't get in the water!

Hunter and Abigail having lunch on Friday. Yummy hot dogs, chips, and apples! Let's just say that Abigail had enough chips on this trip to hurt someone...good thing we don't keep them in the house!

Mom in the tent. She and Dad stayed in the tent and the rest of us stayed in the camper. Considering it got down in the lower 40s at night, I was happy not to be in the tent!

Bahamas

Mom and I had a mother/daughter trip to the Bahamas this past week. It was so awesome. We flew to Ft. Lauderdale, then took a cruise ship to Freeport, Grand Bahama. We stayed there three nights before coming home. The first hotel wasn't really paradise worthy, so we changed hotels and that made the trip a perfect luxury! We slept, read, ate, and that's about it. It was so relaxing and totally refreshing. Eddy and Abigail survived as well!!

I heart the beach...yes Dee, it's catching on! :)

Me with my pina colada for Daisy...it was the best one I've ever had!

Walking to the resort beach from our room. There was the endless pool before the beach. Perfect for those of us who love to see the beach, but don't like swimming in salt water!

Me relaxing on the beach. It was so sunny this day that half of my pictures didn't turn out very well.

Mom and I waiting on the taxi to take us to the hotel. We had only recently figured out how extremely humid it was...I mean it was bad! Thank goodness for the refreshing pools and ocean!
Thanks mom for an awesome trip!!!

The Best State Fair in Our State!

We decided to go to the State Fair on Saturday. Mom and Dad came with us. The weather was perfect...we got there super early...and we had a blast!! Abigail rode lots of rides, we ate some yummy food, and watched the pirates water show. Dad and Eddy went to the auto show while Mom and I took Abigail to play some games. We saw like 5 minutes of En Vogue...takes me back to my high school days!! I have a feeling next year it will be easiter to convince Eddy to go!

Abigail on the tractor at Little Hands on the Farm...one of the coolest exhibits.

Abigail feeding the chickens and getting some eggs for her basket.
Abigail and me on the merry-go-round...the first time!

Abigail in her stroller and ready to go...I wish I had a stroller!

Riding the "bears." They were sort of like a Tilt A Whirl. This was her favorite ride.

Also during the Little Hands on the Farm exhibit. She watered a tree and picked a peach.

Us in the tea cups...obviously not made for people my size! And OMG, it made me so DIZZY!

On the whales...I wasn't even about to try to ride this one!!

And on the dune buggies. She loved these...also something I didn't dare try! Thank goodness by the end she was comfortable riding by herself.

Sunday Fun

Sunday is one of our favorite days of the week. Today we did lots of fun things together as a family. We went to church, then to Cici's for lunch. Abigail has decided she always wants pizza for lunch after church...at least it's cheap! We put out Fall decorations, then went to Kohl's to buy a few more. Afterwards to Home Depot to buy some flowers and a couple of pumpkins. Eddy and Abigail planted the flowers, but we didn't get to carving/decorating the pumpkins. We went to Bahama Bucks for shaved ice, cause it was super hot out. Eddy and Abigail went to the car wash while I picked the Theaux's up from the airport. After all that, we just relaxed at home for the evening. Now a little tv before starting another work week!
Abigial and Daddy having their Bahama Bucks...

Taking her flower pot to the other side of the yard.

Putting soil in the pot...she liked to put lots and lots of soil in the pots!

Time for Football!

Last night we went to the Coppell Homecoming Game. It was Abigail's first football game. We went to Ole's with Eddy's sister, Sarah, and her husband, Barry, then we all headed to the game. Abigail was overwhelmed at first, like she is with most new things, but then she totally warmed up! Her main focus of the entire night was the other teams Jaguar tunnel they ran through. She couldn't figure out why he went to sleep (when they let the air out) and why he just wouldn't get up. She was very excited when half time was over and she saw him one more time! But let's just say we heard about her wanting to see that "cat" for about 15 minutes straight last night before bedtime! And Coppell won...Go Cowboys!

Abigail and Aunt Sarah. Sarah found her a pom pom and made her a small mum...she just loved it and was totally fasinated by the huge ones the high school girls had!

Taking in her surroundings and trying to figure it all out.

And They Gave Me A License...

There is one aspect of my driving skills that lacks greatness...curbs. I hit almost all curbs, but only the ones on the passenger side of the car. I don't know what it is. For example, the Sonic in Coppell, leaving and turning right towards the high school...hit it every single time. Those who are with me gasp cause they know it's coming, but somehow I have no idea I'm about to do it! So, today was a little exhausting for me in a couple of different ways, but I had to get out and get Abigail's medicine. I leave the house a little after 7 pm in Eddy's car cause it has the special iPod adaptor and I like to listen to my music. I'm backing up, then turning to head down the alley. I totally whack the passenger rear view mirror on the neighbors recycle bin. Didn't realize how hard I hit it until I got to Walgreen's. I bent the mirror and knocked the plastic backing off. I frantically call Eddy to have him go look for the piece before someone runs over it in the alley. After 22 calls, he answers. I'm just thankful for such a wonderful easy going husband and praying for a cheap repair! Moral of the story...be on high alert when sitting in the passenger seat! :)

Happy Birthday Andy & Hunter!

Yesterday was my nephew Hunter's 2nd birthday and today is my brother Andy's 27th birthday. What a gift to have your first baby boy the day before your birthday! We celebrated Hunter's birthday yesterday. Abigail just loves Hunter and asks to play with him almost every day. It was a great party. The family all went out tonight for Andy's birthday. Unfortunately we aren't close enough to be there, but I know they had a great time!

I appears that he's thinking about pushing her off and that she might be willing to put up a fight!

Abigail and Poppa working on Hunter's new work bench. I was amazed at how much she seemed to like the work bench!

Hunter's favorite gift seemed to be his weed eater. It sounded just like a real one and he was weed eating everything in sight! Too cute!

Family pic after the party. We obviously didn't plan on this picture since we don't match at all!

Relaxing Weekend

Thursday night Abigail got a new nightgown that she is very proud of. It came with slippers and a headband, so she is totally decked out. It's 6:00 pm on Saturday and she is already in it and we are settled for the night...that never happens! It's been such a relaxing weekend and I'm loving it. Today we've done a little shopping, taken naps, eaten at home and rented movies to watch. Last night we went out with the Theaux's and Taylor's for our social. We had dinner at 7 Salsas, yummy, then went to an outdoor concert at Town Center. Every Friday night in August they had free music...this Friday was swing. The kids had a blast dancing and the adults got to just sit and relax. And amazingly enough it was very pleasant outside. I'm not sure that's ever come out of my mouth during the month of August! Below are some pics of the kids. Tomorrow is church and we might head to the Dallas Museum of Art since it's free this weekend!

The kids running and dancing to the music.

Abigail and Taylor trying to hula hoop...hey, they did better than I would have!

Family Roots

Growing up in Arkansas, one thing that our families always did was shell peas. Both of our families bought them by the bushels, and we shelled until our fingers were sore! So, this Saturday we went to the Coppell Farmers Market and bought some black eyed peas. Eddy decided to start shelling them tonight and Abigail was totally fasinated, so of course she had to help! Tomorrow night it's peas and cornbread for dinner!

Family Night

Tonight was family night at our church, First Baptist Coppell. Abigail and I headed up there for about an hour to hang out, play and eat a little. She made a minor attempt to try one of the bounce houses, but she was a little to small and intimidated by all the bigger kids...so instead we just ran around and enjoyed being outside!

Enjoying her vanilla wafer and dancin' a little.

Taylor had her some roasted corn on the cob. She shared some with Abigail.

Abigail and mom...havin' some fun!

Cute little girls. They did some running in circles for a little bit...get all that energy out!!
